Grootberg Lodge

Grootberg Lodge is situated in the ≠Khoadi //Hoas Conservancy, located in the mountainous Kunene Region. The Architect skilfully placed and designed the rock and thatch chalets to blend with the surroundings where it is built on the edge of the mountain, overlooking the Klip River Valley.

The buildings are all clad with stone salvaged from the footprint of buildings and the access road.  All chalets were constructed on the edge of the escarpment, requiring advanced design stilts. The elevated main building provide a lounge, dining hall, kitchen and outside decks that overlook the deep valley below. Road construction, staff facilities, manager housing, and support buildings was also part of this project's brief.
